Boltonia asteroides

One remarkably tall plant:  showy as heck, at Lost Creek wetland near Stevens Point:  thought, what the heck is this aster?  Answer: not an aster:  it’s false aster (doll’s daisy), relatively rare in Wisconsin, and mostly along the Wisconsin River.

Carex hitchcockiana and other woodland plants

It’s a rare occasion when I see such a diverse native woodland assemblage, not grazed by cattle, or overrun with weeds and brush.  I encountered them on a steep ridge and valley in Grant County, Wisconsin.
