working lands

Working lands is a concept gaining traction in conservation. Grazing and pasture, grass-fed beef, for example, are agricultural practices that can be key tools for conserving natural landscapes and biodiversity. A number of years ago (back in 2006-2007) I was working on a project for The Prairie Enthusiasts, seeking out prairie remnants in SW Wisconsin, based on areas identified in aerial photographs. These were mostly pastured lands. These photos show one outstanding example of a very well-managed pastured landscape in Lafayette County, that supports a family run beef cattle operation and outstanding natural resource values.
